The
final report from the Presidential Committee on Information Literacy
states that ..."information literacy is a survival skill in the
Information Age. Instead of drowning in the abundance of information
that floods their lives, information literate people know how to
find, evaluate, and use information effectively to solve a
particular problem or make a decision."
Integration of
information literacy content into the curriculum is an method for
teaching these skills. Faculty who integrate information literacy
content aid students in making the learning the discipline content
more relevant. Information literacy tools give students what
they need to go further with their learning as independent learners.
These areas below will provide faculty with ideas to prepare to
teach the content, strategies to implement the content and ways to
evaluate student learning.
